On January 14th -15th2016,decarbonization competition organized by a French

　　company Agorize was held in Paris, France. ICARE class 2016 students Cheng Zhiyong participated final competition as the only Chinese participant

　　The theme of decarbonnathon competition is carbon-reduction. Altogether 230 teams from all over the world participated in the competition, 14 teams were invited to Paris for the final competition after a one month’s selection. These teams are free combination from all over the worldstudents and office workers. ICARE studentCheng Zhiyong was a member of SmartWater team,other team memberswere from Italy, Spain, France and India, allhavingdifferent backgrounds (postdoctoral, Ph.D., office workers, undergraduate), different majors (environment, water science and technology,mechanics, business administration). SmartWater aimed at recycling household waste water (steam condensate water, rain, cooking steamwater vapor, etc.) to reduce production and distribution chain of drinking water. Main result is a significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, while accessing to safe and reliable drinking water.

　　Ultimately, SmartWater won TWEET BATTLE Award.
