On June 3, 2020, the first batch of Class 2017 online defense of the European dissertation has successfully conducted online via the zoom system. Wang Wenchao and Huang Tianyue participated their online defense with defense judges Prof. Bruno Peuportier from MINES ParisTech, France and Dr. Pietro Bartocci from the University of Perugia, Italy, and the Chinese supervisor from HUST, Prof. Chen Hong, Prof. Cai Dehua, Prof. Yang Qing, and Prof.Li Aijun.

Wang Wenchao and Huang Tianyue had made 20 minutes presentations on their papers, namely “Research on the suitable technology of passive ultra-low energy consumption residential buildings in hot summer and cold winter area based on genetic algorithm——Take Wuhan as an example” and “Water saving potential for large-scale PV power generation in China, based on life cycle assessment”. Then they answered the questions raised by the defense judges, and both of them successfully passed the defense. Facing the shortcomings pointed out by the judges, they responded that they would actively revise and improve the content of the paper.

There are currently more than a dozen students who have obtained the qualifications of European dissertation defense and are actively preparing for thesis presentation. They will complete the online defense in the coming two weeks. The online defense of the European dissertation will be completed around July 14.
