From December 3, 2020, to December 5, 2020, Liang Yuanyuan, Student Affairs Advisor and Li Zhitian, assistant to Research Center Director, led 12 students to Shenzhen city to conduct an industrial workshop.

Part 1: Huawei Bantian base survey

At 9 a.m. on December 3, under the leadership of two teachers, 12 students went to Huawei Bantian base to conduct enterprise research.

They first visited the H3 Digital Energy Exhibition Hall in H District of Huawei Bantian base, and then went to the ICT technology exhibition hall in J district where exhibits Huawei's history, the composition of ICT exhibition hall and Huawei's main products.

After the visit, Mr Lv, head of Human Resources Department of Huawei digital energy department, held a sharing meeting on Huawei management system. All participants shared their views on the development process and future direction of digital energy.

In the evening of that day, the research group hold a group discussion on how to understand the core value of "Huawei is a striver oriented, long-term hard work and self-criticism", as well as "opportunities and challenges faced by young students in the context of digital energy management system in the smart city".

Part 2: Vertiv  (Shenzhen) survey

At 8 a.m. on December 4, Liang Yuanyuan led 12 students to Vertiv. The research group first visited the exhibition hall of Vertiv., where they have gained a detailed understanding of the company’s main products. They also visited the data center laboratory, lightning protection test laboratory, EMC laboratory, and security laboratory in turn, and had a deeper understanding of the importance of network energy equipment and the strength of Vertiv Company.

Then, Mr Zhang Lin, vice president of human resources in the North Asia region of Vertiv, introduced the development process of the company and shared his own job-hunting experience.

Part 3: reform and opening up exhibition hall / Lianhuashan Forest Park

At 2:00 p.m. on December 4, the research group drove to Shenzhen reform and opening up exhibition hall. Through photos, videos, models, scenes, sculptures, high-tech means and interactive experience projects, students experienced vividly the historical changes brought about by reform and opening up.

Part 4: HUST alumni home

At 9:00 a.m. on December 5, the research group went to the last stop of the research in Shenzhen: HUST(Shenzhen) alumni home.

On the morning of the same day, HUST alumni from all districts of Shenzhen gathered at Alumni home. Mr Wang Rendong, executive vice president of Shenzhen Alumni Association of Huazhong University of science and technology, and chief supervisor of Shenzhen asset management society was invited to attend this activity and give a speech.

Mr Wang Rendong delivered a keynote speech on "sustainable economic development from the perspective of energy". Other outstanding alumni from different industries shared their experience based on their current positions and industry needs. Ms Liu Yang, Director of the Education Center of ICARE, introduced the development of China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy from its establishment to the present and introduced the alumni from ICARE. Finally, all the participants had an interactive exchange session on employment, housing, scientific research and industry development trends.
