On April 7th, 2015 postgraduate New Energy Forum & first academic annual meeting was held at Auditorium 217 in ICARE building. More than 300 students and teachers from China-EU institute for Clean and renewable energy and other institutes of HUST attended the forum

　　The forum was hosted by Ms.Tan Jingyi from class 2013. Three students who had foreign exchange internships made keynote speeches. Ms. Tang Miao introduced her research on material properties and etching effects based on SiF₄/H₂/Ar gas mixtures in PECVD. Mr. Deng Chao introduced experimental study on the pyrolysis of D-glucose and intermediates molecules for second generation biofuels production and Mr. Pei Long introduced eco-design of residential buildings in China using life cycle assessment model.

At the event

　　After the keynote speeches, the forum was divided into three sub-venues of solar, biomass &wind energy and energy efficiency. 16 postgraduate students such as Mr. Ouyang Jian, Mr. Hou Wenzhao, Ms.Tong Yao and so on made reports about thin film solar cells, energy conversion and grid technology, microalgae, micro-pipe heat conversion technology, fuel cells and so on, outlined their research ideas and research results, and gave their own views of new energy’s future development and energy saving methods in China. A number of cutting-edge new research directions attracted great interests of teachers and students induce a lively exchange and discussion.

　　This event demonstrated outstanding research ability, good international vision and a solid grounding of English competence of ICARE students. The New Energy Forum clearly provided a good interdisciplinary educational platform which can be seen as one of the brand activities of ICARE.
