ICARE participated in Wuhan Green and Energy-Efficient Building Exhibition

From March 26th to 28th, ICARE participated to the 7th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & Technologies and products Exhibition. This took place this year at the new Wuhan International Expo Center.

The exhibition gathered over 300 enterprises focusing on construction and building materials from China and abroad. Different kinds of green building materials, HVAC and solar energy products, water pipeline and green lighting equipment, construction machinery, and some other related products were displayed by the exhibitors. Together with Architecture & Urban Planning, ICARE institute had a booth and showed the latest technologies and education status in green building, solar energy, geothermal energy.

An exchange seminar on green building development and technology was also held on March 26th. More than 100 representatives from Hubei Construction Industry Association, Hubei Building Energy Efficiency Association, Wuhan New Material for Construction Industry Association and architectural design Institutes, contractors, real estate developers attended the seminar.

During the seminar, Mr. Michel AUBLANT, ICARE European Executive Director and Pr. CHEN Hong from Architecture & Urban Planning College of HUST were invited to give speeches. Mr. AUBLANT presented the Life Cycle Assessment tools for sustainable urban design. Several software were introduced, such as EQUER for LCA, ALCYONEfor graphic model and COMFIEfor thermal simulation, which are widely used in sustainable urban design in Europe.

Currently, the urban "haze" problem in China goes serious. Pr. CHEN Hong proposed that the urban ventilation can effectively improve the urban environment. For example, on December 9, 2013, the air condition in Beijing turned to be excellent from high pollution on previous day. The changed was caused because of strong wind on that day. Then he introduced two typical cases "Air corridor planning in Guiyang City" and "Natural ventilation design in Wuhan Binjiang District" to further prove this idea.
