Vice President CHENG Jianguo led a delegation to visit Mines ParisTech

As invited by Mines ParisTech, on December 1st, 2017, HUST Vice President CHENG Jianguo led a delegation to meet Director Vincent LAFLÈCHE, Deputy Director Jérôme ADNOT and discussed with them on the continuation of the ICARE Institute operation. The delegation was composed of the Dean of International Education School and Executive Director of International Exchange Center LIU Junhua, Deputy Director of International Exchange Center HE Gang, ICARE Chinese Co-dean LUO Xiaobing. ICARE Project Coordinator Didier MAYER and his successor Prof. Alain Thorel also attended the meeting.

At this meeting, Vice President CHEN Jianguo fully affirmed the excellent achievements jointly acquired by MPT and HUST in the last seven years of ICARE Project implementation and highly appraised MPT’s effective coordination with other European Partner Universities. He hoped that the two host universities HUST-MPT could be further supported by China-EU governments and take advantage of partner universities’ teaching and research resources to develop gradually international first-class education at all levels of study from Bachelor's to PhD in its relevant majors, so as to raise their academic reputation and world influence. He also hoped the two universities could combine their efforts to integrate this cooperation program into the framework of the Sino-French high -level cultural exchange mechanism, thus contribute to the Sino-French and even Sino-EU Educational cooperation.
President LAFLÈCHE highly appreciated the ambitious cooperative plan proposed by Vice President CHEN. He promised that Mines ParisTech will follow HUST’s footsteps by bringing together the expertise and excellence of other PSL member-institutions and relying on its wide range of partnership with industry world to foster HUST and MPT’s cooperation on education as well as on research activities.

After the meeting, the delegation was guided by President LAFLÈCHE to visit the Mineralogy Museum inside the school.
