On the afternoon of September 4th, the Opening Ceremony of Grade 2021 was held in the lecture hall 217 in the West Fifth Building. Professor Luo Xiaobing, the Chinese Dean of ICARE, Mr. Sun Lu, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Professor Hu Song, the Director of the Research Center of ICARE, Mr. Lyu Guangdong, the Director of the Financial Center, Ms. Liu Yang, the Director of the Education Center, Dr. Liang Yuanyuan, the Counsellor of Student Affairs, and other ICARE administrative staff attended the ceremony.
Prof.Luo Xiaobing welcomed the new students. He presented the cultural heritage, learning atmosphere and living environment of HUST, and the current situation, history, teaching environment, discipline development and employment prospect of ICARE. He hoped that the new students would cherish the privileged background of “carbon dioxide emission and carbon neutrality”, and take advantage of the high-quality international education resources of the Institute. He urged the students to pay attention to their health, to merge themselves into the big family of HUST, and be a good example of the new ICARE generation with self-confidence, self-improvement, and virtue.
Prof. Hu Song gave a detailed introduction to the ICARE newcomers. He concluded that new students need to take care of three essential things: 1. Seize every minute of learning; 2. Make as many friends as possible; 3. Establish a good relationship with teachers and classmates.
At last, Mr. Long Jun, a student of Class 2019 shared his experience in France by pre-recorded video.
Mr. Zhang Chenhao, the representative of new students expressed his excitement and pride in becoming an ICARE student.
