2021 ICARE Summer Camp was held successfully
From July 8th to 10th, the ICARE Summer Camp was successfully held with online and offline sessions. The Summer Camp was divided into three parts: experience day, exchange day, and harvest day. 35 students from all over the country participated in the event.
On the afternoon of July 8th, the Summer Camp officially kicked off in the lecture hall, room 217 on the West Fifth Building. Mr. Ren Yu, the Vice Dean of ICARE, Prof. Hu Song, the Director of Research Center, Ms. Liu Yang, the Director of Education Center, and Dr. Liang Yuanyuan, the Counsellor of Student Affairs, attended the opening ceremony.
Mr. Ren Yu welcomed the students attending the summer camp. He introduced the history and current situation of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the basic situation of ICARE. He hoped that the campers would be more determined for entering ICARE and mastering cutting-edge knowledge through constant hard-working. .
The European Dean, Prof. Michel FARINE also sent his wishes via video. He introduced the international advantages of ICARE, the scientific research capabilities of European partner universities, and the promising status of new energy industry.
Ms. Li Yuchen, a graduate student representative of ICARE, expressed her welcome to the students. She shared her experience of international training from Sino-European dual tutor system and her prospects of the new energy industry at home and abroad with the theme of "initial heart", "reassurance" and "confidence".
Finally, Ms. Liu Yang and Dr. Liang Yuanyuan gave a detailed introduction to the Chinese faculty of ICARE, the application process, employment, internship, and answered questions from students.
On the morning of July 9th, the experience day, four Chinese tutors of ICARE introduced the basic situation, research direction and scientific research of their research group to the campers. In the afternoon, after completing the English group interview, the campers, led by volunteers, visited the Thermal Packaging Laboratory, the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion，the Printable Mesoscopic Solar Cell and Optical Devices Research Group, and the Solid Fuel Burning Laboratory. In the evening, the campers took a written English test.
On the afternoon of July 10th, in the sharing session of outstanding alumni, Mr. Jiang Jibing, a former student of ICARE from Grade 2016 who is currently working for Huizhou Yiwei Lithium Energy Co., Ltd. as the vice Director of the company's research institute, Mr. Li Hanjian, a former student of ICARE from Grade 2017 who is now a post-doctoral student in the School of Energy and Power Engineering, and Mr. Zhang Muyi, a former student of ICARE from Grade 2020 who is now a doctoral student in Linköping University, Sweden shared with the campers via Tencent meeting their experience of studying at ICARE and professional development after graduation.
The Summer Camp Academy also prepared a wealth of activities tailored for the campers. There were interesting self-introductions, ice-breaking games, and new energy knowledge competitions that allowed campers to get to know each other and strengthen their knowledge on new energy.
