On April 9, the second annual academic conference of ICARE was officially held on the West fifth building. The theme of this conference is “driven by carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, create green and shearing economy”, which was following the idea initiated by President Xi Jinping. The conference was undertaken by the Graduate Association of ICARE. The Chinese co-dean Professor Luo Xiaobing, the vice dean Dr. Zou Mingqing, the director of research center Professor Hu song, the Chinese supervisor Tu Zhengkai, the Chinese supervisor Zeng Kuo, the director’s assistant of research center Mr. Li Zhitian, the secretary of the Chinese co-dean Ms. Xie Chunhua, the assistant of the vice dean, Ms. Kou Fangling, and more than 100 graduate students from ICARE and from the college of Energy and Power Engineering attended the opening ceremony.

At 9 a.m., the annual academic conference officially kicked off. Professor Luo Xiaobing, the Chinese co-dean delivered an opening speech for the annual academic conference. Professor Michel farine, the European co-dean, expressed his congratulations through video.

After, researcher Tu Zhengkai from the college of Energy and Power Engineering gave a speech on "advanced energy storage technology and wind-light-hydrogen-storage-use joint development". He first introduced the classification of current energy storage technologies, and then listed the concept of integrated energy system using different energy storage methods. By showing the research and application of fuel cells and UAV in civil and military fields, he expounded the importance of energy storage technology, which triggered a heated discussion between the teachers and students present.

Associate Professor Zeng Kuo, one Chinese supervisor of ICARE, gave a speech on "solar fuel preparation and energy storage". He first introduced his study life and scientific research experience in France, then focused on the basic principle and technical status of solar thermal utilization, and answered the students' questions.

In the afternoon, 25 ICARE master students gave academic reports in the sub-conferences allocated in room 210, 214, 310 and 314. These academic report covered five directions: solar energy, biomass energy, wind energy, hydrogen energy and energy efficiency. The judges of this annual academic conference include eight Chinese supervisors of the College, namely Li Song, Wang Mingkui, Rong Yaoguang, Tu Yaojie, Wen Chang, Liu Huan, Jiang long and Li Xiaoshan.

This annual academic conference aims to further strengthen the graduate education of the college, provide a platform for academic exchange and interaction for ICARE students, improve their scientific research ability and oral presentation ability, create a good academic atmosphere, and cultivate high-quality talents for the field of new energy.
