On September 23, 2022, Professor Alain THOREL gave a lecture entitled "Introduction to Fuel Cells & Hydrogen" on MSTeams, which attracted more than 160 teachers and students from ICARE to participate in the event.

In the beginning, Professor Luo Xiaobing, the Chinese dean delivered an opening speech. He said that, as a Chinese-foreign cooperation institution specializing in new energy science and engineering, ICARE aims to train high-quality talents engaged in the global energy field and provide talent support for sustainable energy supply in the future.  On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of HUST and the 10th anniversary of ICARE, ICARE specially invites European professors to help students broaden their vision, refine their knowledge, and accumulate the strength to serve China's 3060 dual carbon target. Finally, he wished the seminar great success.

After thanking Dean Professor Luo for his speech, Professor Alain THOREL began to share his comments and answers, focusing on "the principle of fuel cells", "some questions about hydrogen" and "the combination of hydrogen and renewable energy".

At last, students raised a few questions on "the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen fuel cells", "how to improve the efficiency of the hydrogen fuel cell", and "the future development of fuel cells", Professor Alain THOREL answered all these questions, that he puts in the context of the energy crisis in Europe triggered by the events in Ukraine.
