On the 70th anniversary of HUST, ICARE is also celebrating its 10th anniversary. To show the achievements of the school in the past 10 years and gather strength from all sides, the 10th-anniversary ceremony was held in lecture Hall 217 on the West fifth floor on October 5, 2022. Vice President of HUST, Professor Chen Jianguo, officials of relevant departments and colleges, representatives from enterprises, teachers, students, and alumni of ICARE attended the conference.
Professor Chen Jianguo, on behalf of HUST, congratulated all the teachers, students, and alumni at home and abroad. Over the years, HUST has accelerated the opening up of high-level education with the strategic goal of "promoting the four forces". He said, after years of development, ICARE has become an important window to Europe in the engineering education of the energy field. During these years, ICARE fostered a batch of graduates who have an international vision and global competitiveness and served as the pioneer in promoting exchanges and mutual learning in higher education between China and Europe. He hoped that ICARE would seize the historical opportunity, carry the great mission of the time, achieve higher quality and rapid development, inject new energy into the university's construction as a world-class university, and make new contributions to China-EU cooperation.
Professor Luo Xiaobing, on behalf of ICARE, welcome the distinguished guests to participate in the event and expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers, students, and staff at home and abroad. Then Professor Luo made a report on the achievements of ICARE in talent training, discipline construction, scientific research, social service, and international exchange in the past 10 years. He said the institute will continue to take root in China, promote ICARE’s global influence, and contribute more "Chinese wisdom" and "Chinese solutions" to the prosperity of China-EU cooperation and the realization of the Chinese dream.
Dr. Zou Mingqing led a review of the development history of ICARE through his report. He pointed out that the Institute was born under the China-EU High-Level People-to-People Dialogue, which is an important part of the China-EU higher education cooperation platform and China-EU Education Policy Dialogue. Over the 10 years, ICARE has played an important role in the internationalization and multidisciplinary of higher education. As a high-quality cooperation and exchange platform in the field of clean and renewable energy between China and Europe, ICARE promoted exchanges and mutual learning in higher education between China and Europe and trained several top-notch and innovative talents. He said the institute will always adhere to educating talents for the Party and the country, guiding students to be committed to the development of the renewable energy industry, to serve the needs of the country with global vision and the courage to be global governance.
Professor Hu Song represented all lectures of ICARE and gave a speech on "grow up with ICARE". Student representatives Mr. Chen Yuan, Mr. Koda, and Ms. Li Xiaoshan gave speeches reviewing their time in ICARE.
The conference was successfully concluded with the establishment of the Alumni Council and the awarding of appointment letters to the first council members.
In the past ten years, ICARE has adhered to the original intention of education, worked hard, and accumulated fruitful results. At present, ICARE embarks on a brand new journey of development! ICARE will be diligent and tireless, continue to cultivate world-level talents, and work together for a common cause to write its magnificent chapter.
