COURSE TITLE : Energy Economics and Life Cycle Assessment

     Introduction to the Course/课程介绍:

This Course provides an introduction to energy economics; basic concepts of technological economics; evaluation methods of economic effects; energy-environment interactions; energy trade; issues facing the energy sector . For Life Cycle Analysis the following will be treated: Introduction and origin, ISO Standards 14040; The LCA Methodology: Goal and Scope, Inventory Analysis, Impact Assessment (Selection, Classification, Characterization, Normalization, Grouping, Weighing); Final considerations about LCA benefits and limits; LCA practical applications; Exercises.

本课程介绍能源经济学; 技术经济学的基本概念; 经济效益评价方法; 能源-环境相互作用; 能源贸易; 能源部门面临的问题。 对于生命周期分析,将处理以下内容:介绍和起源,ISO 标准 14040LCA 方法论:目标和范围、清单分析、影响评估(选择、分类、表征、标准化、分组、衡量; 关于 LCA 的好处和限制的最终考虑; LCA 的实际应用; 练习。

Course Aims/课程目标:

The aims of this Course are to provide the students with basic tools to carry out an energy, economic and Life Cycle Analysis and Assessment of investments and projects in the renewable energy sector.

 

Learning Outcomes/学习结果

By the end of this Course students should have gained:

·         Ability in economic evaluation of renewable energy plants:

·         Ability in carrying out economical analysis of investments including redaction of a business plan and the calculation of evaluation indexes;

·         Ability in evaluating the most important parameters to include in a life cycle analysis and the ways to quantify them, in order to compare the environmental impacts of different products and services.
