COURSE TITLE : Solar Fundamentals I

This course provides an introduction.

This course gives an introduction to solar energy by presenting the irradiation potential and its fluctuation with time on a collector area.

It is then applied to solar chemistry, solar fuel production, solar heat utilization and to PV systems either grid connected or off-grid.

This is intended as professional reference for an undergraduate or first-year graduate course. A key feature of the course is modular organization. The five chapters, each containing problems and a reference list, may be read in almost any order, though they are grouped in three parts in order of increasing depth and complexity. The three parts discuss fundamentals, complete systems, and possibilities for improvements, respectively.

·         Knowledge and Understanding/知识理解: Solar irradiation, an introduction to solar cell technology fundamentals, PV systems issues

·         Intellectual Skills/ 智力技能: solar cells and continues with a discussion of carrier generation and recombination in silicon solar cells.

·         Professional Practice Skills/ 专业技能: Solar irradiation estimation, PV systems energy output and long term performance evaluation, PV systems design. Evaluation of solar fuel production technology, calculation of Energetic/Exergetic efficiency, basic knowledge of thermochemistry.
