At 9 a.m. on December 5, alumni of Huazhong University from various districts of Shenzhen gathered at the Shenzhen alumni home of Huazhong University of science and technology.

Mr Wang Rendong, executive vice president of Shenzhen Alumni Association of Huazhong University of science and technology, and supervisor of Shenzhen asset management society was invited to attend the gathering. The offline alumni gathering was hosted by Ms Liu Yang, Director of the Education Center of China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE). Some teachers and students of ICARE attended the salon.

At the beginning of the gathering, Ms Liu Yang first extended a warm welcome to the alumni attending the gathering, and then invited Mr Wang Rendong to give a keynote speech entitled "sustainable economic development from the perspective of energy".

Starting from China's energy consumption structure in recent decades and comparing with the global level, Wang Rendong pointed out that "environmental storm" is the driving force of energy transformation and new energy development. Then he combined with his 30 years of working and living experience in Shenzhen, pointed out that Shenzhen is a good platform with vitality and diversity, and welcomed students to Shenzhen for development.

After Mr. Wang Rendong's speech, Liu Yang introduced the development of ICARE from its establishment to the present, introduced the alumni of ICARE, and emphasized that the achievements of ICARE can not be separated from the excellent performance of the ICARE alumni.

Finally, outstanding alumni from different industries expressed their views and experiences on their current positions and industry needs, and shared and exchanged their concerns on employment, housing, scientific research and industry development trends.
