China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy successfully held the 3rd Engineering Green Building and LEED Certificate Senior Seminar on Dec 20th, 2014. The invited speaker was Mrs. PAN Lili, founder and executive director of LGees Hong-Kong, a company expert in LEED new construction certificate and panelist of US Green Building Council international roundtable. Director at Wuhan Housing of Urban and Rural Construction Committee, Dr. XU Haiqing was invited as a guest speaker.

　　45 participants from Wuhan Land Use and Urban Spatial Planning Research Center (WLSP), Wuhan Dongfeng Design Institute Co., Ltd, Beijing green building Software Ltd., Shanghai General Motors, Wuhan 606 project and other enterprises, as well as students from School of Environmental, school of architecture and urban planning of HUST participated in this seminar.

　　For up to one day's training, Dr. XU Haiqing explained development trends of the energy efficient and green buildings construction programmes. He also provided insights about the energy efficient and green building future. Miss PAN Lili from L Gees introduced first the basic concepts of green buildings, explaining prerequisites and requirements of LEED for 6 aspects, including traffic, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor air quality.

　　In addition, Ms. PAN also explained the "green building action plan" which led to the version 4 for of LEED, with the full use of life cycle assessment (LCA) and methods to make participants understand the possible problems in running the new version of LEED BD + C in China.

　　This senior training not only helped participants to have a deeper experience of scientific and rational layout of green building system, user-friendly design, concept of harmony between man and nature, but also a clear overall knowledge of the LEED system. Participants highly praised the LEED certificate training. Future Chinese construction market requires practitioners to have a higher standard and professionalism, construct high level buildings in line with green, environmental friendly, low-carbon, energy-saving principles. Our institute relies on its China-EU educational advantages and actively makes contribution to promote green building concept in China. In this highly academic exchange platform, we hope to explore low-carbon, environmentally friendly green building’s future with professionals.
