June 29th- July 2nd 2015, Chinese Dean of ICARE institute Pr. Huang Shuhong, Research center director Pr. Hu Song led ICARE delegation to participate in 2015- ASRTU in Perm "-Sino-Russian Students’Innovative energy design Competition, and won the second place.
ASRTU is the acronym for Association of Sino-Russian Technological Universities, which was established in March 2011, led by Bauman Moscow State Technological University.
Members include 15 Chinese universities such as HuaZhong University of Science and Technology and 14 Russian universities. To vigorously promote the construction and development of the association, fully cooperate with "2014-2015 Sino-Russian Youth Friendship Exchange", ASRTU organized 2015- ASRTU in Perm "-Sino-Russian Students’Innovative Energy Design Competition”. The competition aimed at demonstrating Chinese and Russian students' innovative thinking and design in the field of energy and power engineering, providing endless power source for the sustainable development of the energy industry.
It included innovative development of power engineering and related industries, production and use of renewable energy, rational use of power resources, and promotion of energy efficiency and so on. The competition was divided into four parallel sessions, respectively Power Resource Saving Technologies, Power Management, Alternative and Renewable Power Sources, Innovations in the Power Engineering.
ICARE students Jiang Jibin, Peng Weiwei, Tian Kan’s project "A Novel Temperature Control System for Vehicle NOX Emission Reduction" took competition in the fourth session "Innovations in the Power Engineering" competition. The project focused on the existing medium and heavy diesel vehicles NOX emissions, reduction problem, effectively combined advantages of controllable heat pipes and phase change materials, designed a new device to control exhaust temperature of medium and heavy diesel vehicles. The new device, effectively controls temperature, optimizes SCR system performance to achieve high efficiency of NOx reduction. It is small size, light weight, low exhaust back pressure, low price, and no additional energy consumption. It can be used in medium and heavy diesel vehicles.
The team made a clear and vivid demonstration of their project. Prof. Huang Shuhong and Hu Song watched the competition, and made valuable suggestions after it. Ultimately, the team's design project won the second place of Sino-Russian Students' Innovative Energy Design Competition.
After the competition, contestants were invited to a series of cultural exchanges and activities, such as visiting wooden museum and Perm National Research Technological University laboratory, enjoying Perm State Technical University students performances, KAMA river cruises, Kungur ice cave tour, and so on. This series of visits and exchanges not only allowed teachers and students to know more about the beautiful city Perm and Perm State Technical University, but also strengthened exchanges between alliance members and cooperation.
