ICARE successfully hosted 2015 summer camp on July 3rd- 4th 2015. This event attracted more than 13 junior and senior undergraduate students from domestic major universities and 1 international exchange student Max from Oxford University jointly participated in the summer camp.
The camp opening ceremony was held at auditorium 217 west 5 building on July 3rd afternoon. In the ceremony, ICARE European Dean Pr. Michel Farine gave a warm speech about world's energy pattern and trends on behalf of institute to welcome campers. He said that “with the new energy market expansion and globalization, new energy professional top talents are being urgently needed”. “If you want to join in the construction of new energy industry, learn the world's advanced new energy science and technology, contribute to the sustainable development of world’s energy and environment, that ICARE will provide such a platform for you, and we are willing to work together to contribute to energy industry”.
After the ceremony, tutor Zhao Yongchun, Li Xian and director of Education Centre Mrs. Liu Yang held a consultation meeting regarding recruitment, training, admissions and other issues. Teachers made detailed answers concerning new energy development, research orientation, study abroad selection, employment trends, etc. Special invited teacher Xu Shen introduced his field of research. Xu patiently answered all questions, and invited students to visit building energy efficiency laboratory. Outstanding student representatives Chen Le, Liu Menglei, Yang Rupu also prepared courses exchanges, so that campers could know more about ICARE in advance.
On the night of July 3rd, campers showed their well prepared personal reports in room 305. They introduced their characters, hobbies, schools, homes, etc in English. Mutual understanding has been further deepened.
On the morning of July 4th, our outstanding representative Chen Hao was invited to explain the status and development of new energy industry, multi-disciplinary knowledge to be learned as an ICARE student. Three outstanding senior students from different laboratories explained the important issues of different researches and made recommendations. Finally, Chen Hao distributed summer camp certificate to the campers.
On the afternoon of July 4th, with the organization of Cai Shunkang from ICARE education center, campers visited HUST History Museum and Wuhan Research Academy of New Energy, to experience history of HUST and unique charm of new energy technologies. After back to campus campers encouraged each other, looked forward to meeting again next year. They said they benefited a lot from this activity, not only widened their vision, met friends, learnt new energy industry, enhanced interest in scientific research, but also cleared their own goals and direction. So far, the EU-China Energy Engineering summer camp ended successfully.
