On March 26th, the Class 2014 Graduation Ceremony was held in our institute. Pr. LUO Qingming, Vice President of HUST and Mr. Jean-Philippe Vanot, President of ParisTech together conferred the HUST New Energy Science & Engineering Master degree and ParisTech Clean & Renewable Energy Master degree to the graduating class. Also in attendance at the ceremony were leaderships from HUST, French Consulate General in Wuhan, ParisTech, European Professors and student parents.
The ceremony was hosted by Pr. Huang Shuhong, ICARE Chinese dean. Mrs. MA Yanlin, Director of degree office of HUST graduate school and Pr. Michel FARINE, ICARE European dean separately announced the decision of awarding Chinese and European diplomas.
As student representative, LI Xiaoyu spoke firstly in front of attendees and expressed his great appreciation to HUST, ParisTech, ICARE, and all the partners. He referred ICARE equipped the graduates with global teachers, who work in the top energy educating and researching institutions. Their abundant knowledge, rich experience of industry and dedication to teaching guaranteed the quality of teaching. Moreover, ICARE offered lots of chances to do internship at home and abroad. It definitely broadened horizon and improved practice ability.
Afterwards, Pr. LUO Qingming delivered an enthusiastic address entitled “Mission”. He gave best wishes to the graduation class. “Everybody has his or her missions and responsibilities which are the drives of their lives. As the graduates of ICARE, you now have some missions even larger in scale”, Pr. LUO said. In recently decades, China and EU have had great cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, culture and education. Now President XI Jingping planned to tour the EU at the end of March. That will strengthen strategic partnership between China and EU to an unprecedented level. He hoped all the ICARE graduates sail to accomplish the new mission—pushing forth clean and renewable energies, ensuring the sustainable development of china and the world as a whole, and finding success.
Then in Mr. Jean-Philippe Vanot’s speech, he fully affirmed the excellent performance of the students during their study for the master degree, and showed his gratitude to them for the fame and honor they brought to ParisTech in China. He also emphasized ICARE graduates belong to the renowned family of ParisTech Alumni, while these graduates will make ParisTech more influential in China. He wished the students would show their great abilities in the future life, as well as their great strength and potential as one of ICAREers.
Compared to the 37 graduates last year, the job hunting performance of this class is even more gratifying. 10 of them are accepted for PhD study. 50 received offers among which at least 6 are directly connected to renewable energy (1 hydro, 4 wind, 1 solar), which is an important new feature compared to last year.
