“Chinese-French Environmental Cooperation Project - Wuhan Greenhouse Gases Emissions Assessment” was held in Wuhan Optical Valley Capital Building on September 3th. LIN Peng, XU Boyang and WANG Yang, students of ICARE 2013 attended the meeting as important participators.
“Wuhan Greenhouse Gases Emissions Assessment” project is a cooperative project between governments of Wuhan and Bordeaux, aimed at using a French method - "Bilan Carbone" to calculate the GHG emissions in Wuhan. This method has been successfully applied in many countries such as Canada and Morocco. National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China Quality Certification Center (CQC) and Wuahan Carbon Emissions Association (WCRA) represented Chinese government, and Internat Energy Solutions Co.LTD.(IES) represented French government in the project. Wuhan University and China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy(ICARE) were the primary partners. LIN Peng, XU Boyang, WANG Yang, ZHOU Xing and QIAO Xiaopeng, students of ICARE 2013 have participated in this project since April, each of them was responsible for one specific area. Project reports on calculation of emission factors and emission reduction strategies will provide an important guidance for carbon emission reduction to Wuhan city and Hubei Province.
The active participation in international cooperative project of energy conservation and emission reduction demonstrated ICARE students’ capacity. These three students were highly complimented for their excellent performances by Mr. Nath the representative of France.
Company leader Nicolas Nath, chief engineer Simon Burin des Roziers and management engineer Julia Feste of internat China, experts from China Quality Certification Center(CQC) Wuhan sub center, Wuhan carbon emission reduction association (WCRA), China Hubei emission exchange center, and Wuhan University attended the meeting. Among them, engineer Julia Feste had held carbon emissions related topic lecture in ICARE, and guided our students to participate in the research project.
