Energy issues are closely related to everyone; therefore, it is important to train the middle school teachers to understand the new energy-related knowledge, to facilitate teachers for spreading the knowledge in teaching activities, furthermore, to raise students’ interest in energy study. With this concept ICARE held a special summer training program for school teachers in the afternoon of July 16th,with the attendance of about 500 principals of secondary schools in Hubei Province.

In the first part of the course, Prof. HUANG Shuhong, ICARE Chinese dean introduced the serious energy security and environment protection problems. Energy shortage is also influencing the world economy structure. In China, the situation is even worse. For example, the yearly financial loss caused by air pollution equals to 1.2% of the GDP. The main solutions are developing energy efficiency technology and clean and renewable energy. Controlling carbon emissions should be done too. In the second session, Mr. Michel AUBLANT, ICARE European Executive Director shared the experience in Europe on new energy and energy efficiency programme. He also generally introduced the wind power, tide power, etc.technology.

The principals received new understanding about energy saving and new energy technology in this class. They also expressed the wish to dedicate to the new energy education and energy saving actions.
