E2P2L director gave conference in ICARE

On September 12, Dr. Floryan De Campo, Director of the International Joint Research Laboratory for Eco-Efficient Products and Processes (E2P2L), in Rhodia Company, visited ICARE at the invitation of professor M. Farine. He delivered a conference to introduce the E2P2 laboratory focusing on renewable and sustainable chemistry research and also to show to students that a cutting edge research exist in industry. With more than 10 years of research and management experience in Rhodia, he had managed several projects from the feasibility to the industrialization of organophosphorus products, and developed several new processes for this company.

At the beginning of the conference, Dr. De Campo briefly introduced Solvay Group, the owner of Rhodia Company. Solvay was founded in 1863 and has worldwide presence in 55 countries with 111 industrial sites. 38% of its sales come from fast growing countries. Among the world leaders in selected markets and products, the group is among the top 3 global. Then Dr. De Campo presented the E2P2L, including the team members, research proposals and target, etc. The team aims at developing a green chemistry that can reduce the environmental impact of existing products or processes and especially greenhouse gas emissions. In particular, the idea is to deliver new products and eco-efficient processes capable of reducing our dependence on oil and hence reducing the carbon footprint. E2P2L also welcomes excellent Ph.D, interns and collaborators.
