ICARE pioneer graduates were conferred with European diplomas

On March 15th,the first graduation ceremony was held in our institute. Mr. Yves Poilane,President of ParisTech conferred ParisTech diplomas to the 27present graduates.

Mr. Shao Xinyu, Vice President of HUST, addressed a speech, in which heintroduced ICARE double master programme. On the basis of creditsacknowledgment between Europe and China, ICARE double master programme adoptsthe “coursework” pattern of European master and “research” pattern of Chinesemaster and designs a new master training pattern, which combines research workleaded by Chinese professors and school teaching leaded by European professorsand moreover the students are co-supervised by European and Chinesesupervisors. Mr. Shao hoped the pioneer graduates could cherish ICARE days, gain experience from them, take the missions assigned by society, conduct the exchange andcollaboration in energy field and dedicate to an energy sustainable society.

In Mr. Yves Poilane’s speech, he affirmed the significance of ICARE projectfor China, because research in the clean and renewable energy will help China to take challenges andprovide sufficient energy for social and economic development. Meanwhile, Mr.Poilane pointed out that more efforts should be put into the project to make itworld known. He also hoped the graduates have positions in relations with their high competencies.

As representative of the EU Delegation to China, Ms. Jady Wang also gave a speech and congratulatedICARE graduates. With the 3-year joint efforts from both European and Chinesepartners, this graduation ceremony is an important achievement for higher education. Ms. Wang reiterated the motivation of establishing ICAREinstitute. As the biggest energy supplier and consumer, China should play alarger role in clean and renewable energy research and development. She hoped ICARE couldtake advantage of it and train highly-competent people with international perspectives.

Mr. Serge Lavroff, France Consul General in Wuhan witnessed the growth ofICARE. He hoped ICARE could become a perfect China-EU cooperation platform andbenefit to more students with its high level educational resources. The excellentcreativity from students could benefit to ICARE as well by faming ICARE abroad. Mr. Lavroff also wished the graduates can combine the diverse culture of China and Europe and giveimpetus to innovation.
