At 7:00 p.m. on December 7, Professor Alain thorel, Director of the Research Center of Mines ParisTech and European coordinator of ICARE, conducted a scientific conference on "Introduction to hydrogen" to our teachers and students via zoom conference platform. This lecture was hosted by ICARE Student Zhang Jincheng, and attracted more than 70 teachers and students to participate online.

Professor Alain thorel's lecture was as cordial, lovely and lively as ever. This lecture describes the origin of hydrogen energy, the basic element composition of hydrogen energy, and the chemical characteristics of hydrogen from the micro molecular and atomic level.

Professor Alain started with the molecular structure of hydrogen energy and explained why hydrogen energy can become new energy in the future. Then he explained why there was no natural hydrogen molecule on the earth, which answered the doubts that students had in mind. Finally, he analyzed the advantages of hydrogen energy in economy and energy saving as well as the future development trend and introduced how to grasp the trend of hydrogen energy technology development, and how to find valuable research direction in the field of hydrogen energy research.

In the Q&A session, the students' profound understanding on the same issue was repeatedly praised by Professor Thorel. He answered these questions related to hydrogen energy technology, such as "how to solve the problem of hydrogen energy storage and transportation", "how to obtain cheap hydrogen energy resources and how to carry out" one by one.

Finally, he hoped to continue to bring wonderful lectures to the students. The students also expressed that they had benefited a lot from this lecture and they are looking forward to the next exchange.
