On the morning of November 17th, under the leadership of Dr. Zheng Jing, Office Director of ICARE, and Ms. Zhao Yiting, Student Affairs Officer, students of ICARE visited Wuhan Sino-French Water Company. This visit is one activity of China-France Environment Month. Mr. Maxime Feraille, Attache of Scientific and educational Cooperation of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, Mr. Julien Saint-Sevin, Officer of Scientific and educational Cooperation, and Li Dan, Program Officer of Education Cooperation attended this activity.

Under the guidance of the staff, the visiting team first visited the meter room. The meter room is mainly used to monitor the degree of water pollution. Then the visiting team was led to climb the clean water tower, and visit the clean pool. The industrial wastewater is purified by biochemical method here. A large number of suspended substances and large impurities in the wastewater are removed by adjusting acid neutrality, flocculation, and air floating. The wastewater then flows into the AO biochemical tank, where both aerobic and anaerobic microbial strains are used to purify the chemical aerobic substances in the wastewater.

Wuhan Chemical Industry Zone, the area covered by Wuhan Sino-French Water Company, is the area with the best water quality in Hubei Province. In the 2021 National Water quality assessment results, this is the only area in Wuhan that scores more than 80 points. Through this visit and survey, the teachers and students have a profound understanding of green development and the importance of learning from practice. “Clear waters and lush mountains are gold and silver mountains” promotes green development and harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
