The purpose of this event, held on May 24, 2023, in conference room N1312, is to provide students with a better understanding of the requirements for studying abroad and to enhance their international vision. 

Our guest speakers, Mr. Yang Fan and Mr. He Shangyang shared their experiences in applying for overseas and foreign doctorates. Mr. Yang Fan: obtained Ph.D. offers from Penn State University, Queen Mary University of London, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (China), and the University of Hong Kong (China). Mr. He Shangyang: Won the National scholarship, and obtained PhD offer from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University(China). 

Mr. Yang Fan discussed the importance of having a clear motivation when applying for a Ph.D., suggesting that students consider whether they want to pursue scientific research or employment and whether they want to work in China or abroad. He also shared the advantages and disadvantages of doctoral programs in different countries, the application process, and his case study. 

Mr. He Shangyang shared his application process for Hong Kong schools and reminded students to determine their direction in advance, make academic achievements, confirm a supervisor, and prepare materials in advance. He advised students to start preparing for the application process as soon as possible and provided tips on CV, interview presentation, IELTS, and scholarship/application time. 
 

Overall, the experience-sharing session broadened students' horizons and provided valuable insights into overseas study. We hope this event will help students apply to their ideal universities.
