On the afternoon of July 2nd, ICARE officially opened the Academic Summer camp in the Clean Energy building S311. After the preliminary registration and selection, a total of more than 30 outstanding students from universities across the country participated in this activity. Prof. Yao Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Prof. Luo Xiaobing, Chinese dean of ICARE, and Prof. Farine, European dean of ICARE attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Yao Hong indicated that under the current domestic situation, the new energy discipline has broad prospects for development, and the arduous task of achieving the "double carbon" goal is in front of us, which is a key opportunity and requires the participation of personnel from different disciplinary backgrounds. He stressed that as a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution specializing in new energy science and engineering, ICARE has a good international education platform foundation and multi-disciplinary training background. After training, students' knowledge structure, language expression, international vision and other abilities are significantly enhanced.
Prof. Luo Xiaobing made a detailed introduction to the situation of ICARE from four aspects: subject guide, institute guide, education characteristics and education results. He hoped that through this summer camp, students could personally experience the advantages of ICARE and the strong atmosphere of learning and scientific research at HUST. He welcomed and encouraged outstanding students to apply to the master's program at ICARE.
In his speech, Prof. Farine welcomed the arrival of the campers on behalf of ICARE. He introduced the world energy pattern and development trend, he believes that the demand for top talents in new energy has become more and more urgent, and encourages the campers to devote themselves to the construction of a new energy industry. He said that ICARE will provide such a platform, willing to work with everyone to contribute to the sustainable development of the world's energy and environment.
On the evening of the 2nd, campers and students from the University of Oxford held an English corner concert. More than 30 students participated in the concert. Campers had in-depth exchanges with students from the University of Oxford and broadened their international horizons.
On the morning of July 3rd, in the research exchange session, all the campers listened to the introduction of 15 Chinese tutors on the research direction, scientific research strength, tutor team and postgraduate training of their research groups. After the session, the campers had a comprehensive understanding of the field of new energy.
In the afternoon interview session, campers had one-on-one in-depth professional discussions with Chinese tutors and foreign tutors of ICARE.
On the evening of the 5th, Dr. Zou gave a summary speech for the summer camp, and he hoped that the students could learn something about ICARE through this summer camp activity, and make contributions to China's energy future. At this point, the 2023 Academic Summer Camp of ICARE successfully concluded.
