On the afternoon of September 14, 2023, Professor Arthouros Zervos of the National Technical University of Athens has hold a scientific lecture entitled "Global status of Renewable Energy" in the Clean Energy Building S311.
Professor Arthouros Zervos, currently the Chair of the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21), has more than 30 years of experience as a senior expert in the field of renewable energy, covering policy, science, research and technology. He was chairman and CEO of the Public Power Corporation - Greece between 2009 and 2015. He has also led several key European renewable energy organizations and policy forums as adviser.
In this lecture, Professor Arthouros Zervos presented a comprehensive global overview of the development of renewable energy in 2022, providing an in-depth analysis of the key facts and trends of this development in different energy sectors such as electricity, heat, and transport fuels. At the same time, the application of various renewable energy technologies such as solar energy, wind energy and water energy were presented in detail.
At the end of the lecture, the students actively participated in a Q&A session, asked a series of in-depth questions about the contribution of renewable energy in the global energy transition, the future prospects of hydrogen energy, and Chinese energy storage projects. Professor Arthouros Zervos gave a comprehensive and insightful response. This lecture not only provided a valuable opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of renewable energy, but also stimulated students' enthusiasm for future renewable energy research.
