The 20th "Huawei Cup" China Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held successfully from September 22 to 26, 2023. A total of 19,898 projects from 507 units participated in the contest. After two rounds of rigorous evaluation, the final selection announced 200 teams as the first prize winners (with a winning ratio of 1.01%), 2659 teams as the second prize winners (with a winning ratio of 13.36%), and 3981 teams as the third prize winners (with a winning ratio of 20.01%). Mr. Longhai, a student of ICARE, and his team's project "Research on Regional Dual Carbon Target and Path Planning" won the third prize.
The project "Research on Regional Dual Carbon Target and Path Planning" developed a regional carbon emission evaluation index system. By analyzing the correlation between indicators and regional carbon emissions and using the Pearson correlation coefficient method, the project calculated the standardized regression coefficient of each indicator using the multiple linear regression method. The project combined the BP neural network model, cubic spline interpolation method, entropy weight method, and Kaya model to construct a regional carbon emission prediction model. The project also achieved the optimal planning path for the region to achieve the dual carbon target.
