To promote the rich traditional Chinese culture and enhance the cultural experiences of both teachers and students, ICARE organized a series of Dragon Boat Festival-themed activities from June 6th to 7th. The goal was to provide an opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the depth and charm of traditional Chinese culture, while also creating a platform for showcasing talents and exchanging learning experiences.
On the afternoon of June 6th, a unique sachet-making activity for the Dragon Boat Festival was held on the third floor of the new energy building. ICARE European professors from the University of Zaragoza in Spain, Inmaculada ARAUZO and Cristobal Cortes, were invited to participate. During the activity, participants could choose from different materials to make sachets with effects such as mosquito repellent, sleep aid, and refreshment. Throughout the process, Teachers and students warmly discussed the profoundness of Chinese culture and shared their understanding and insights about traditional Chinese festivals.
On the evening of June 7th, ICARE hosted a themed event titled "Passing on the Dragon Boat Festival Culture and Gathering Spiritual Strength" on the fourth floor of the Clean Energy Building. The event included warm-up games, introductions to the Dragon Boat Festival, tasting Zongzi (rice dumplings), braiding colored strings, ideological and theoretical learning, etc.
The host, Jin Hao, introduced Su Shi's poem "Raccoon River Sand - Dragon Boat Festival" and provided cultural knowledge related to the Dragon Boat Festival, including the festival's origin and customs such as wrapping Zongzi, dragon boat races, colorful ropes, and inserting moxa leaves.
After tasting Zongzi, wrapping sachets, and braiding colorful ropes, a fun game of guessing the name of the song was also carried out. These unique Chinese cultural experience activities deepened participants' understanding of the historical significance and cultural connotations of the Dragon Boat Festival.
