The 2024 International Symposium on Energy Storage and Conversion (ISESC 2024) was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, from November 8 to 11, 2024. During the same period, the 2024 China Power Electronics and Energy Conversion Congress & the 27th China Power Supply Society Conference and Exhibition (CPEEC & CPSSC 2024) was also conducted concurrently. The conference addressed various significant research topics, including energy conversion, fuel cells, transportation applications, artificial intelligence, power electronics, and power supply technologies. Participants actively exchanged the latest ideas and research advancements in these fields.

Following expert recommendations and evaluations, Cheng Xiaoyu, a postgraduate student from ICARE’s Class of 2022 under the supervision of Professor Liu Zicheng, received the prestigious "Excellent Paper" Award in the "Artificial Intelligence in Energy Storage and Conversion Systems" session. Cheng was also recognized as "Best Presenter" in the session. The award-winning paper is titled "A Data-driven Fault Diagnosis Method for Motor-drive Inverters with Different Control Strategies." This year’s conference accepted 215 papers, with only 10 papers receiving awards, reflecting an award rate of less than 5%.

The paper presents an innovative diagnostic method for three-phase inverters, capable of accommodating different control strategy systems. By introducing rotor speed signals to adjust the FFT input length and selecting shared key features across various control strategies for feature dimensionality reduction, the method achieves improved diagnostic accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that the approach is highly accurate, offers strong generalization capabilities, and features fast training speeds. The integration of artificial intelligence into power electronics is a key research focus for Professor Liu Zicheng's group, which has published several influential academic papers in this area. The group has also received the Second Prize for Technological Progress from the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society.
