ICARE Faculty and Students Attended the Closing Ceremony of “Sustainability Tour 2024” Organized by the EU Delegation to China

On November 22, 2024, the EU Delegation to China successfully hosted the closing ceremony of the “Sustainability Tour 2024” in Beijing. Nearly 300 attendees from multiple organizations participated in this event, including the EU, the European Investment Bank, EU member state missions in China, EU-funded projects, and local partners. ICARE was invited as one of the key participating institutions, with Vice Dean Dr. Zou Mingqing leading the faculty and students to attend the event on site.

 

The closing ceremony began with a group photo of all guests, creating a warm and lively atmosphere that fully embodied the concept of “Environmental Protection Knows No Borders.” Dr. Zou Mingqing stood on stage alongside Jorge Toledo the EU Ambassador to China and other guests, jointly reviewing the highlights and memorable moments of the event, witnessing its successful conclusion.

 

At the event, faculty and students engaged in in-depth exchanges with attendees, laying the groundwork for future cooperation. Ambassador Jorge Toledo highly praised the achievements of ICARE, he engaged closely with the participating students and encouraged them to make young people’s contributions in the field of environmental protection. ICARE students also had lively interactions with EU environmental experts, discussing topics ranging from renewable energy research to green development policies. These discussions were both broad and deep, fully showcasing the professional competence and international perspective of ICARE students.

 

“Sustainability Tour 2024” covered 14 project sites across 12 provinces and cities in China, fully demonstrating the close collaboration between Chinese and European partners. Nearly 300 people from multiple organizations participated in the event, including the EU, the European Investment Bank, EU member state missions in China, EU-funded projects, and local partners. The event cumulatively released over 100 social media posts, 10 blog articles, and 20 video episodes, reaching more than 60 million user views across platforms such as Weibo, WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Tiktok, Toutiao, and Bilibili, sparking extensive discussions on the impact of international cooperation and green transformation projects.

 

Among these, a video related to the activities involving ICARE was released on September 17, 2024, on the EU's Weibo account “Keys to Europe” and received numerous positive reviews. The video, presented from the perspective of a cycling blogger, shares his experiences through visits to teaching and research facilities, observations of international classrooms and graduation ceremonies, and face-to-face interviews with Chinese and foreign faculty and students. It showcases the institute's active contributions in cultivating international talent for the future of the clean energy sector, promoting exchanges and mutual learning in higher education, science and technology, and cultural aspects between China and Europe, and advancing global green transformation and sustainable development.
