To further strengthen the scientific research competencies and innovative abilities of postgraduate students, ICARE successfully hosted a mini academic salon on the afternoon of April 10, 2025, at the Academic Lecture Hall of the Student Activity Center in the New Doctoral Apartment Complex. This event, part of the “Academic Mini Salon” lecture series, attracted enthusiastic participation from many postgraduate students.

Prof. Shen Limei, a professor and doctoral supervisor from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, was invited to give the keynote presentation. She began by sharing her personal experiences in academic study and scientific research, offering candid insights into her own research journey. This created a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, fostering close rapport with the student audience.

Prof. Shen then provided a systematic overview of her team’s latest research and achievements in thermoelectric refrigeration and power generation technologies, showcasing her expertise in the interdisciplinary field of thermal management and energy utilization. She guided students in exploring the essence of scientific innovation, offering a deep analysis of modern research trends including reverse thinking, data-driven research, and interdisciplinary approaches.

Addressing the challenges of the current era of information overload, Prof. Shen also shared practical strategies for efficiently acquiring key information and staying updated on research progress. She encouraged students to adopt a structured perspective on scientific inquiry and build a clear learning pathway.

The interactive Q&A session was particularly dynamic, with faculty and students raising questions about research direction, topic selection, and innovation strategies. Prof. Shen responded thoughtfully and thoroughly, further igniting students’ enthusiasm and curiosity for research.

This salon not only delivered valuable methodological guidance but also served as a catalyst for students embarking on their research journeys. ICARE will continue to organize high-quality academic exchange events to nurture internationally-minded, research-capable professionals.
