Online Exchange on Flow Battery Technology Held by Research Center of ICARE

On February 10, 2026, the Research Center of the China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE) organized an online exchange meeting focusing on cutting-edge research and industrial cooperation in the field of flow batteries. Scholar representatives from the University of Padova, Italy, and Wuhan GLT Energy and Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. were invited to attend the event, where they delivered in-depth presentations and discussions on core technologies including alkaline all-iron flow batteries.

At the meeting, the team led by Professor Yu from Wuhan GLT Energy and Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. delivered a presentation titled Key Technologies of Alkaline All-Iron Flow Batteries, systematically introducing the research background, market prospects, core working principles, key technological breakthroughs, and industrialization progress of the technology.

Against the background of the global energy transition, the team highlighted the unique advantages of alkaline all-iron flow batteries in long-duration energy storage, environmental friendliness, and cost control. They also shared progress in cooperation with leading research institutions worldwide, as well as innovative achievements in key areas including electrolytes, membrane materials, and flow field design.

The scholar representatives from the University of Padova shared the latest research developments and technical approaches in Europe in the field of flow batteries from an international perspective. They also conducted in-depth exchanges on potential cooperation directions between the two sides in basic research, technology transfer, and market expansion.

All experts attending the meeting agreed that, as an important technical route for long-duration energy storage, flow batteries play an irreplaceable role in promoting the large-scale application of renewable energy and achieving the “Dual Carbon” goals. The in-depth cooperation between China and Europe in this field will inject new momentum into the global energy transition.
