From March 25 to 29, 2026, the 12th Training on High-Quality Development of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education was held in Wuhan. Over 80 administrators responsible for Sino-foreign cooperative education from universities across China attended, with the opening ceremony and first day sessions hosted by ICARE at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST).

Prof. Luo Xiaobing, Chinese Dean of ICARE, welcomed participants, noting that hosting this training at HUST represents recognition of the university’s international education practices and propels ICARE’s reforms in Sino-foreign cooperative education. He expressed hopes for strengthened cooperation mechanisms, deep integration of education, technology, talent, and industry, and exploration of new paradigms with both Chinese characteristics and world-class standards.
Mr. He Xin from the Secretariat of the Chinese-foreign Joint Education Committee presided over the ceremony and thanked HUST and ICARE for their support. He recognized ICARE’s strong academic foundation and its exemplary “one-to-multiple” cooperation structure, which has led to outstanding talent development and broad social impact.
Mr. He hopes the training will serve as a platform for discussion, mutual learning, and exchange among experts, leaders, and educators, and called for regular communication mechanisms among universities nationwide to promote high-quality development.
Ms. Xu Weiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of SWJTU-Leeds Joint School, shared her experiences as a participant representative.

Ms. Jiang Jing, Deputy Director of HUST International Affairs Office, and Dr. Zou Mingqing, Vice Dean of ICARE, delivered keynote lectures on global cooperation and the unique role of Sino-foreign cooperative education in telling China’s stories globally.
Participants visited research and teaching platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion and Low-Carbon Utilization, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, and the Engineering Practice and Innovation Center.
The training focused on enhancing quality, institutional guarantees, operation and management, and the synergy between international cooperation and scientific research. It included site visits, keynote lectures, and group discussions.

In-depth analyses and experience sharing addressed challenges such as institutional innovation, management optimization, integration of high-quality foreign educational resources, and coordinated development models for international cooperation and research innovation, thus improving practical skills and management levels.
