As a research and industrial institution directly affiliated with State Grid, China Electric Power Research Institute (NARI Group) serves as a leading enterprise within the modern industrial chain for the new power system. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Wuhan Energy Efficiency Evaluation Co., Ltd., is recognized as a national-level specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative enterprise. The company focuses on energy-efficiency services, carbon verification, zero-carbon parks, and related fields, and has supported the development of China’s national carbon market for more than a decade. It possesses a comprehensive green and low-carbon service system together with extensive practical experience.

During the sharing session, Liu Zheng systematically elaborated on four major aspects: development background, State Grid practices, corporate development pathways, and opportunity exploration.

He thoroughly interpreted the policy framework of China’s “3060” dual-carbon goals and the historical development of the carbon market, while analyzing the relationship between electricity markets and carbon markets as well as the major challenges facing industrial transformation. He also introduced State Grid’s “power supply + energy-efficiency service” system and presented achievements in power conservation, electric energy substitution, green power consumption, and intelligent power utilization. In addition, he highlighted progress in the construction of green supply chains and new-type power systems.

Liu Zheng further shared benchmark practices related to carbon emission verification, carbon inclusiveness mechanisms, zero-carbon park construction, green qualification guidance, and technological research and development. Many demonstration projects and technological achievements have received recognition at both national and provincial levels. Addressing bottlenecks in the coordinated development of the power and carbon sectors, he proposed practical suggestions such as strengthening top-level design, promoting market integration, and improving mutual recognition mechanisms. He also looked ahead to the broad prospects for green and low-carbon development in the power industry.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session conducted in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Many students actively raised questions related to their academic studies, career planning, and industrial trends.

Mr. Liu Zheng answered all questions patiently and thoroughly. Drawing on corporate talent demands, job responsibilities, and current developments in the new energy and dual-carbon sectors, he provided detailed explanations and addressed students’ concerns regarding internships, employment, career choices, and academic development, allowing participants to gain valuable insights and practical experience.

Pragmatic and forward-looking, this sharing session was highly appreciated by all participants, who listened attentively and engaged in in-depth exchanges, gaining a clearer understanding of the major pathways and practical directions for the green and low-carbon transformation of the power sector.
