ICARE Holds Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Event

To promote fine traditional Chinese culture, , and foster an inclusive atmosphere for multicultural exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and international faculty and students, ICARE hosted a themed activity, Dragon Boat Zongzi Making and Cultural Integration, at Xihua Canteen on the afternoon of June 5, 2026. Vice Dean Dr. Zou Mingqing, European Professor Ghanim Putrus, as well as Chinese and international faculty and students participated in the event, celebrating the traditional festival through immersive folk culture experiences.

The event was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere. In his address, Dr. Zou noted that the Dragon Boat Festival, a vital traditional Chinese festival, carries profound historical heritage and rich cultural connotations, serving as an important carrier of traditional Chinese culture. He expressed the hope that students would immerse themselves in this traditional festival through the activity, deepen their friendships, and achieve personal growth through communication and mutual learning. Afterwards, students gave a detailed presentation covering the origin, cultural significance and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

During the Zongzi making session, guided and demonstrated by professionals, all participants gradually progressed from clumsy beginners to skillful hands, experiencing the joy of traditional craftsmanship through hands-on practice. Chinese and international students got to know each other through interaction and felt the warm festive spirit of the event. Laughter mingled with the sweet aroma of Zongzi, filling the venue with a strong festive atmosphere.

Centered on traditional Chinese festivals and integrated with aesthetic education practice, this event allowed teachers and students to immerse themselves in the beauty of Chinese culture, labor practice, and cross-cultural exchange. It built a bridge for multicultural communication, enabling traditional culture to radiate new vitality through dialogue and mutual learning.
