Recently, ICARE Supervisor Professor Tang Jiang and Associate Professor Chen Chao from the Monolithic Integrated Optoelectronic Devices and Systems Team, School of Optical and Electronic Information & Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, achieved significant progress in the field of one-dimensional chain-like materials. Their research paper titled Chained Materials: Definition, Understandings, and Applications was published online on February 24 in Chemical Reviews.

For the first time globally, Tang Jiang’s team put forward the concept of "chained materials" and presented a comprehensive summary covering the definition, fundamental mechanisms and practical applications of such materials.

This research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program of China. The co-first authors of the paper are Associate Professor Lu Shuaicheng from National University of Defense Technology, Associate Professor Li Kanghua from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Wang Liang from Shandong University. Professors Chen Chao and Tang Jiang are the corresponding authors.
