From June 14 to 17, Professor Luo Xiaobing, Chinese Dean of ICARE, visited Italy as part of an official delegation to participate in the 2026 Europe-China University Presidents’ Dialogue Forum hosted by Politecnico di Torino.

On June 15, the delegation paid a visit to the School of Architecture at Politecnico di Torino and held a discussion with Professor Alberto Giuseppe Sapora, Vice Rector for International Affairs of the university. Professor Luo Xiaobing introduced the operations of SEPE and ICARE, HUST. Following the presentation, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges covering school-running models, talent cultivation, and research platform development. They reached broader consensus on China-EU joint talent training and collaborative academic innovation in the field of renewable energy.

Both parties will further advance diversified cooperation initiatives including faculty and student exchanges as well as joint curriculum development, and establish a regular communication and liaison mechanism. This will lay a solid foundation for long-term collaborative programs such as double-degree pathways and joint summer schools, fostering deeper and more extensive cooperation in clean energy engineering education between China and Europe.

On June 16, Professor Luo Xiaobing delivered a keynote speech at the parallel session Renewable Energy of the 14th Sino-European Engineering Education Platform (SEEEP). Centered on the shortage of industrial professionals amid the “Dual Carbon” transition, his speech thoroughly analyzed prominent challenges facing traditional engineering disciplines, including insufficient implementation of industry-education integration and weak development of internationalized training and interdisciplinary programs. He also elaborated on the unique strengths and vital value of joint talent cultivation between China and Europe.
